san francisco | frank fort.
you can cancel that throwback DVD series on order. if it's the bold and beautiful you're after, simply book a stay at hotel frank.
thomas schoos knows that a day without high drama is simply unlivable; and this duke of design, known for dashing digs like the huntley hotel, koi and table 8, must've had that in mind when he plotted this in-your-face, soap-opera inspired landscape. the look? hounds tooth custom carpet, dangling glass bubbles, vintage 1930's artwork and sumptuous emerald croc headboards (which is almost as good as wearing the distinctive hue angelina style). while this unique space screams hip, contempo, and slightly mod, schoos skillfully nods to 40's art deco with his use of tailored lines and beaux art classicism. book the right spot and you might be surprised to find an inviting bathtub just steps away from your bed. how's that for bold? any leading lady worth her bath salt will relish the opportunity to be seen in, um, all her glory. certainly not a place for the bashful, hotel frank prides itself on the unmistakable flair and sense of freedom that bursts throughout the space. the picture-perfect building has been taking the lead since 1908, outlasting its critics and several name changes. this month, personality hotels adds "frank" to the roster. and owner, yvonne lembi-detert says this no-nonsense, unabashed hot-house has her father's name written all over it.
to be frank, you'll love it. hotel frank. 386 geary street. at mason. opens this month. 415.202.8700. www.hotelfranksf.com
