PERSONALITY HOTELS PURCHASES YORK AND MAXWELL HOTELS
San Francisco-Based Boutique Hotel Company Grows to Include Seven Hotel Properties

SAN FRANCISCO - April 3, 2007 - Personality Hotels, San Francisco's original boutique hotel company, announced today its acquisition of two additional hotel properties in San Francisco - York Hotel, located in Nob Hill, and The Maxwell Hotel in Union Square. The York and Maxwell hotels join Personality Hotels' existing collection of five San Francisco boutique properties that include Hotel Diva, Kensington Park Hotel, Hotel Metropolis, Hotel Union Square and Steinhart Hotel.

"We are extremely excited to add the York and Maxwell hotels to our portfolio of family-owned boutique hotel properties," says Personality Hotels' President and CEO Yvonne Lembi-Detert. "This is an electrifying year for Personality Hotels as we increase our presence in the hospitality industry and showcase the innovative thinking and fresh design concepts for which we have come to be known."

Both the York and Maxwell hotels will undergo complete renovations beginning in late Spring 2007. The hotels will remain in operation during the renovations and are scheduled for completion in Summer 2008. Spearheading the new designs for both hotels is award-winning, LA-based Thomas Schoos Design, Inc. Renowned for the eclectic interior designs of many top urban restaurants, hotels and nightclubs, Schoos' clients include Los Angeles' Huntley Hotel and its rooftop restaurant The Penthouse, Koi, O-Bar and Table 8 restaurants, and Tao restaurant and nightclub in New York and Las Vegas.

The 153-room Maxwell Hotel, constructed in 1908, will undergo an extensive $10 million transformation. The entire interior will be completely redone including new bathrooms, expanded guestrooms and hallways, and all common areas. A contest will be held to determine the new name for The Maxwell Hotel.

Located next door to the Steinhart Hotel, the 97-room York Hotel will undergo a $5 million renovation. Both the exterior and interior will be fully redesigned including all guestrooms, meeting rooms, corridors, the fitness center, and lobby. Upon completion, the hotel will be renamed Hotel Vertigo after Alfred Hitchcock's 1958 classic thriller staring James Stewart and Kim Novak (Novak's character lived in York Hotel during the last half of the film).
